A website video widget should answer a visitor’s question before the next step. Start with one pilot page and a clear goal. Keep essential product information in the page text, and test the full experience before rolling it out across the site.
Prepare the pilot
Choose the page, video and intended next action. Use installation code belonging to your own NoCapp account and project. The method for adding code depends on your CMS, theme and permissions. Check that a plugin, theme and tag manager are not installing the same widget twice.
Confirm platform limits
Custom-code access and checkout capabilities can vary by platform and plan. Confirm the specific implementation with the team before assuming support. This checklist is not a claim that every integration works on every package.
Test before publishing
- Check phone and desktop layouts, including close and playback controls.
- Keep navigation, product prices, forms and purchase buttons accessible.
- Test keyboard access and the page without starting the video.
- Compare loading under equivalent device and network conditions.
- Separate a video play or CTA click from a completed purchase or enquiry.
Measure the actual outcome
Define the primary event and denominator before the test. Changes in campaign traffic, prices or audience can affect results. People who watch video may already have higher purchase intent, so an observational comparison alone does not establish causation.
